The honeymoon.

Here's a couple pics to chew on folks. We had an amazing honeymoon! I'm so happy we decided to splurge on our vacation. We went to Secret Silversands Resort in Riviera Cancun, MX. The place was 5 star -- no lie! We had excellent service, and we plan to go back again some day for an anniversary!

Our trip to recycling.

Here are some pictures of Anna and my adventures the other day to get jars from recycling. We actually counted up how many I still need... about 100.

Sugar.

My cousin, Anna, has made it to Minnesota from Texas and I'm oh so grateful for her being here! Today she's making 250 cupcakes for the wedding....

Princess shoes.

I just fell in love with my wedding shoes. (This inspiration board goes along with my shoes so I thought I would post it too!)

Dessert bar.

Who doesn't love this wedding trend? The candy bar is almost a must have at weddings, but just like all things I do I'm doing mine a bit different. I'm doing a dessert bar, because desserts are overall better :)

Church bridal shower.

My church family and family family threw me my last bridal shower last weekend.

July 12 is an important date guests!

Just a friendly reminder...

For those interested in staying at the hotel in Wabasha after the reception please note that the rooms are blocked off until July 12 under the Meyers/Clark Wedding. Feel free and try to make reservations beyond the date if interested, but the Hotel would only hold them until a month before the wedding.

Two wedding dresses.

I know you may all think I'm crazy, but I work at David's Bridal and I've been eyeing a wedding gown there for a long time. I brought Mom in tonight and she loved it as much as I did, so we said YES to the (second) Dress -- and for a good price! It was on clearance and I got an employee discount.

Engagement pictures: round three.

I'm finally getting to this last set of pictures! I'm not even finished editing, but here is another group to look through -- mostly black and whites.

Branches.

If you didn't meet my Fairy Godmothers... see the post published before this one. They helped me find a way to make branches part of the decor.

Bridal shower #1 and bachelorette party.

Well, I'm not going to say much about what all went down at my party, but it was very, very fun! Thanks ladies for planning the event, for all the great gifts, and making me feel special. It was perfect -- perfect for me!

No kids!

WOW! Really? No kids? No ring bearer? No flower girl?

Really. No. Kids are definitely allowed at the wedding. We are having a nursery so they can be at the wedding without distracting from the ceremony. I'm not having a ring bearer and I'm not having a flower girl. Paul and I don't have any special kids in our lives...

This picture reminds me of Oslo. I could see him walking me down the aisle! JK.

Best,
Amber

PS working on the other engagement pictures -- just won't be up for a while. Stay posted!

Engagement pictures: round two.

This round of pictures is a combination of different places. I edited them in similar fashion so will lump them together for this posting.

Miss Hollis Pearson come save me!

FLOWERS...
Procrastination to the max. I have been putting off finding a florist for the longest time. This needs to change.

Recently I was looking our budget and have come to the realization that we need to make some cuts. Doing the invitations myself has saved me a couple hundred dollars. We also found a DJ that was under budget. With these savings, we still manage to be over budget. One word: photography.

It's just my style.

I wanted to put these pictures up because it reminds me a lot of my wedding style. I did these for graphic design class a year ago. How perfectly fitting. I almost used the flower as a theme for invites, but decided to go a different route. (The assignment was to make up and brand a business for perfume.)

Finally, invitations!

I just got my return address rubber stamp in my PO Box, which is super exciting. I designed the stamp and ordered it off of rubberstamps.net. Not this week, but the next I'm going to sit down and write out, stamp, and send out all my invitations. I'm so in love with the design I've decided on.

Here are some inspiration invites that I worked off of:

Because I love my bridesmaids- a thank you gift.

OK, I'm just putting this up.  I know, it's about a month too late.

I made these gifts for my bridesmaids when we went dress shopping.  For a reminder, my reception is held in Wabasha at Slippery's Restaurant & Bar-- the famous place of Grumpy Old Men.  So I thought it would be appropriate if my bridesmaids were all to see the movie; you know, educate them.

It's a handmade photobooth!

I am pretty excited about this little collection of pictures I've gathered for my photobooth post.  I'm still working on the photographer situation.  My friend Jordan Obinger is going to be the second photographer at the wedding if all goes to plan, which I'm so thrilled about!  He is an amazing photographer-- check out his work!

Hair plus veil.

Picture from theprettyblog

I'm so lucky to have one of my best friends as a hairstylist.  Pippa, one of my bridesmaids, is going to be doing my hair (and my M of H Paige) for the wedding.

The peacock teapot.

So we did register. You can find us at Macy's and Target. Trying to decide what I wanted required a lot of work. I couldn't just walk in and 'gun' everything I liked. Before registration, I thumbed through a number of house mags to get inspiration and then decided on paint colors and style before choosing a wish list.

Applesauce.

Now accepting all forms of applesauce and like-type jars!
Grandma Shirley has collected 20 jars so far-- now that is a lot of applesauce, and even more pickles.

For the centerpieces, the tables are going to be filled with lights. I'm hoping 250ish. I found out that Slippery's is repainting their reception hall burgundy.  Not at all what I would have chose if I were decorator.  With such a dark room, I'm really going to need to add light.  Let's start with the tables.  Being a visual person, I put together my craft in pictures.  Take a look:

Happy thought of the day.

Future Mother-in-law Shelly wrote to me a while back with a note of encouragement.  It touched my heart so I want to share it today.

"'Marriage will work with any two people in the world as long as they are both willing to change when needed.' You will not stay the same in your life and neither does Paul. Each of you have to change to accomodate the other's change if you are to make it work."

No matter who you are or if you are married or not, this can apply to most relationships-- friends, roommates, family, spouses...  Remember to make changes for other people and to act self-lessly.  These relationships are the type of investments that will last.

Thats all for today.  I've been busy with wedding plans this week being Spring Break and all.  More to come soon!
Best,
Amber

Something black?

Two of my favorite things in life: weddings and houses.  I get to plan both in the next six months, how exciting! (semi sarcastic and semi for real)

Best maid of honor.

Sometimes when life gets too hard, or when you feel lonely, or stressed out from wedding plans......
a great maid of honor comes along and makes your day special.

Bridesmaid dresses.

The end of March my five bridesmaids and I are taking on dress shopping.  I have been searching and searching for the perfect dresses.  I'm looking for something not too bridesmaid-y so the ladies can wear the dresses again.  Something that feels summery and comes in blush pink, of course.

The Wedding Party.

As Ed Cunningham said:

Friends are those rare people who ask how we are and then wait to hear the answer.

The honeymoon.

Cancun here we come!  Now, this part of the planning was so much fun!  Paul and I searched weeks for ideas about where to go.  For a while we were thinking Northern California; flying into LA, visiting my family and make the trip up to SanFran.  We made a separate budget for the honeymoon, and flying out to Cali was hitting our max.  So, we started looking at other options like cruises and Mexico.  Flights to Cancun are about the same for flights to San Francisco believe it or not!

Wedding details.

Paul Melvin Meyers + Amber Nicole Clark are getting married August 13, 2011.

We got engaged January 9, 2011 so we're moving quickly.  I cannot believe it is already March!  This means I have about six months of planning ahead of me.  Not too much.

I have compiled a list and pictures of all the "for sures" we have booked so far.  Check them out... everything has a link.

The title.

So here we go!  My blog to keep friends, family and others updated on my step-by-step wedding planning journey.  Besides updating all of my readers (which I am sure there are many) I am keeping myself organized.

To start a blog, you need a blog name.  With all the stress of planning a wedding, I found the perfect quote to keep me grounded.  I would like to say I'm an excellent planner/designer/creative, but there is one thing I need to remember...  I am getting married to the person I love the most.  The wedding is just one little part of the rest of my life.  My title comes from this quote...
